Touch Down – Nairobi

The start of the 2009 3 Peaks 3 Weeks Challenge nears as the New Year commences. After twelve months of events, functions, movie nights, and various fundraisers, the 2009 team is greatly congratulated for their efforts and success in raising over $160,000 USD! Members of this year’s team reach from Colorado to Canberra, New York to London, and San Francisco to Sydney. The team of 12 women has been highlighted across the globe and they are beginning to make their presence on the African continent.

Yvette, Gretchen, Leah, Brooke, Sam, and Lucy have touched down in Nairobi and anxiously awaited four other members of the team who arrived late on Tuesday evening; Ali, Mara, Nicole, and Toni. Today, the 7th of January, the remaining two members, Katharine and Rachel, will touch down in time to set out for their first peak.

In the coming days prior to the Mt. Kenya climb the team will visit various project sites in Nairobi and be treated for two days with the Laikipia Wildlife Forum in Nanyuki, at the base of Mt. Kenya. Live updates will be posted daily – so please stay posted. You can subscribe to the RSS feed which will automatically send you an email when an update is posted by clicking “Blog Info  –> Subscribe to Blog” in the top left of this window.

The dry season in East Africa warmly welcomes the 2009 team.
