News From the 2nd Summit!

Team standing together with Yvette, our first FEMALE porter!!!

At 8am this morning a brief text came in from the team stating,

Texting you from the summit of mount meru! Yeehaa! All tired and elated.

Minutes later a text came in from Ema the head guide,

On top. Going back now.

Sounding exhausted I felt bad texting, but wanted to know if all meant 11….and got this response:

WOOHOO! Another one down! The summit day was very tiring for the whole team and after several updates we received confirmation that they all made it back down to the lowest camp. They are all likely in need of a massage and a shower – but first will be warmly greeted by the students of St Jude’s who will be holding a special assembly at 12pm for the team tomorrow.

Sarah, Rachel & Jeanne

They will line up donned in their school uniforms and hats and eagerly await the arrival of the ladies…who they know, have just climbed Mount Meru in support of their school!

Boo, Heather & Sheridan

Hear more form the team on their off days…and stay posted for Kilimanjaro!

PS – Check out Mount Kenya Photo Page for pics!

  12. Peakers, toptastic!
So pleased you’re all feeling strong and conquering those mountains – we are SO pleased for you. And of course we’re chuffed to bits that you’re being blown away by Laikipia and St Jude’s, and I’m sure SIC will have just the same effect. All your fundraising and training and steps up those mountains are so worthwhile.
Enjoy the massage (and I have a sneaking suspicion there’ll be a few tears when you’re met by the St Jude’s girls).
    Much love, Cathy at RhinoHQ

Sending you all good energy and love. Thanks for following the blog and all your well wishes.

  16. Dear Sarah and all the team,

Enjoy your rest days and the times at St. Jude’s school.

  24. From this week’s devotional (Jesus Calling) “I am leading you along the high road, but there are descents as well as ascents. In the distance you see snow-covered peaks glistening in brilliant sunlight. Your longing to reach those peaks is good, but you must not take shortcuts. Your assignment is to follow Me, allowing Me to direct your path. Let the heights beckon you onward, but stay close to me. Learn to trust Me when things go ‘wrong.’ Disruptions to your routine highlight your dependence on Me. Trusting acceptance of trials brings blessings that far outweigh them all. Walk hand in hand with Me through this day. I have lovingly planned every inch of the way. Trust does not falter when the path becomes rocky and steep. Breathe deep draughts of My Presence, and hold tightly to My hand. Together we can make it!”

Sarah, together we can!! You at Mt. Kili, me through twice/day (7 hrs apart) radiation. We will power through!!

Strength and courage, strength and courage, to all…
